“Does this look right to you?”
The internet responded with a resounding NO.
See, during COVID, I picked up soldering. Which meant that outside of YouTube tutorials and forum posts, I was learning in a vacuum. And dude, the number of bridged joints and cold solders I committed to eurorack modules made this a *very expensive* hobby. (Happy to tell you about my rig if you’re into it.)
What I needed was another human in the room. A community. Eventually, once the world reopened, I found the New York Modular Society and other groups where I could actually learn with people. It was awesome.
These days, you could swap “soldering” with “AI automation.” Because OMG, same thing! Just me and my screen, tinkering solo, breaking stuff.
That’s why I was so glad to be at yesterday’s AI Ready RVA event here in Richmond. Huge thanks to Jessica Clark for presenting. Yesterday’s event was the first time in a while I saw other humans nerding out about the same stuff I spend all day tinkering with. Looking forward to more and if you're chasing AI in the area, I'd love to meet you at the next one.
If you’re deep in a vacuum with something right now, find your people.
You’re not alone. Quit acting like it.
