Fear is the mind-killer.

What do you see when you view my profile? Do you see the real me?

Context is a beast, and for storytellers, it’s infinite.
Just ask ChatGPT: there are a million ways to spin my work experience.
All of them true.
(Well, “securing $3.2M in cause-marketing sponsorships” wasn’t true, but I didn’t let that one slip by.)

But seriously, how am I presenting?
How are you presenting?
Who’s reading these things, and what story are they weaving in their head about us?

I know I’m capable. I know I’ve accomplished great things.
But is any of that getting through?

And what’s the deal with resumes? (Seinfeld voice)
Are we doing 1 page now? Do we need a professional summary?
I hope so, but not everyone seems to agree.

Here’s what I know:
• List accomplishments, not responsibilities. Weave Microsoft 365 into the flow <-like that!
• Add measurable results whenever possible. Preferably things you can defend with metrics.
• Keep it to ~3 bullet points. Recruiters spend about 30 seconds on the first pass - front-load the good stuff.
• Recruiters read in a serpentine fashion. Zig-zag. Guide the flow with your layout. Hissss.
• Fear is the mind-killer.

Ultimately, you’re the author of your own story, so tell it right.
Don’t let rejections or ice cold silence get you down.
Make a better story.

We’ve all traveled far to get to where we are now.
Take a look back and you'll see it was all leading up to today.
Find the through line of your experience and weave it into your profile. (Not Microsoft 365.)

And remember what Frank said:
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.”

Does anyone know what we’re supposed to be doing with our profiles?
