I don’t clock in anywhere these days, so I’ve been chatting with Chat more often.
Plotting projects. Using big boy words.
What? Did you think I was just playing video games in my sweats?
Please. I’ve got plans.
No one’s catching me off guard with a “Can you explain this gap in your resume?”
I’m building.
Building projects.
Building businesses.
Building brands.
It’s the grown-up version of starting a band - and I was GREAT at starting bands.
It feels punk rock.
It feels like when we figured out how to unlock the printer key at Kinkos to make unlimited zine copies.
(Sorry, Kinkos. I owe you some money from 1997.)
Can’t tell you what I’m cooking up yet (everyone loves surprises) but I can tell you this:
When your team is small but mighty, you automate the extra hands.
I’ve been baking AI into my workflows, trying to add some actual worth to the content I make. This does not mean asking ChatGPT to write a post about “authenticity.” 👀
The slop is out there.
Slop is easy.
When you’re waiting for another automated rejection email to roll in, it feels like a crime not to be churning out something.
Look at me, PRODUCING.
That’s the trap of every get-rich-quick AI content scheme.
Quantity over quality.
If you’ve seen a YouTube video about it? It’s already a grift.
The numbers they quote? From before the market got flooded. Expect a tenth of that *maybe* before YouTube shuts it down.
Lucky(?) for us, slopportunities™ pop up every day.
New policies try to curb AI spam, and the next workaround pops up.
It’s Whac-A-Mole at the end of society.
I wish I didn’t feel like this was what I needed to be training for as a creative.
But a market without money isn’t a market.
And the money guys? They want more money.
Meaningful content complicates the grift.
McKinsey’s getting eaten by AI (Nelson Muntz "HA-HA"), billionaires are threatening to leave if we tax them (stop. don't. come back.) and so here we are.
Anyway:
Projects are fun like bands
AI is helpful
AI is hurtful
2025 is a hell of a time to find work
The balance between meaningful content and meaningfully employed is off
Watch this space as I navigate the post-authentic AI content hellscape.
